Topic: Speaker Description: Students will be able to hear from Glenda Serrano, a prospective medical student from Stanford University. She will discuss what drew her to medicine, her journey so far and what students can do to prepare for a medical career. She will also share advice that she has for students interested in pursuing a career in the medical field. We will have a Q&A session at the end when students can ask Glenda any questions they may have. Glenda has had experience working with students who are interested in medicine and has connections to large medical institutions such as Stanford and UCSF. She has guided students in building connections with medical professionals and applying to medical programs throughout the Bay Area. |

After learning about the fundamentals of genetic engineering, students will hear about applications of genetic engineering including GFP and research in cures for diseases such as cystic fibrosis.
