Teen Advocates for Science Communication Middle School ProgramDesigned for grades 6-8, TASC Middle School invites youth to make exciting scientific discoveries in and around Golden Gate Park. Through guided field trips and fun exhibit tours, youth in TASC MS investigate environmental issues, explore STEM careers, and contribute to citizen science research. Examples of past activities include a behind-the-scenes tour of Academy collections, monitoring Pacific mole crabs at Ocean Beach, fly fishing lessons at the Golden Gate casting ponds, and birding at Stow Lake

Teen Advocates for Science Communication (TASC)Teen Advocates for Science Communication (TASC) is a volunteer program that invites youth in grades 9-12 from across the Bay Area to lead interactive science experiences for Academy visitors and the general public. Trained by their peers and guided by experts in science and education, TASC volunteers learn to facilitate fun activities that deepen science understanding and inspire passion for nature conservation. In TASC, youth build confidence, strengthen communication skills, and develop lifelong friendships.

Careers in ScienceCreated in 1996, the Careers in Science (CiS) Intern Program provides San Francisco youth from communities traditionally underrepresented in STEM (Science Technology Engineering Mathematics) fields with opportunities to immerse themselves in the sciences. Interns develop life and job skills, receive college and career mentorship, and learn science and sustainability concepts in an authentic, paid work environment. CiS provides hands-on science and youth development experiences at the Academy and outdoors while also exposing interns to professional role models and mentors who are leaders in their disciplines.

Girl Tech PowerGirl Tech Power offers an introduction to coding using Alice, Python, Javascript, and Processing. Students will learn to build Mobile Apps using AppInventor and create interactive games using Python, Processing, or AppInventor. In addition, students will have the opportunity to visit a local tech company.

Lawrence Hall of ScienceLearn about various types of science at the Lawrence Hall of Science at UC Berkeley. They have camps for students from 1st to 12th grade and cover a wide range of sciences from slime to the cosmos.

Medicine & Health CareStudents will assume the role of a doctor and learn to take vital signs and a patient’s history during a patient care simulation. Hands‐on workshops allow students to try their hand at suturing, emergency first aid and intubation. Trips may include: the American Red Cross, Museum of Health and Medicine, the National Zoo and the Smithsonian Institution.

#TeenScienceNightTeen Science Night is the nation's largest teen-only museum event. Each year, the California Academy of Sciences welcomes over 2000 teens to explore the museum and learn about science and nature. Attendees have the chance to freely roam the museum and engage with over a dozen local organizations about science, technology, art, and music.
